  • RAY - first steps

    • Attach your microphone via a mount or shock mount to a stable microphone stand.
    • Connect your microphone with an audio interface or preamp using a 3-pin XLR cable.
    • Turn on 48 V phantom power on your audio interface or preamp.

When activating phantom power, a sound can be audible - this is perfectly normal.

To avoid this sound, you can mute the microphone channel before turning on phantom power.

    • The white distance indicator shows your distance from the microphone
    • The red stripe represents your set MUTE by Distance threshold.
    • The distance indicator will turn red once you pass the MUTE by Distance threshold.
    • Both AURA and MUTE indicate if they are active at the moment.
  • RAY - AURA Technology

AURA Technology adapts your level and tone dynamically to guarantee a uniform sound image, whether you are in front of the microphone, standing further away, or moving around.

Press the AURA button to activate, and the AURA indicator lights up.

Your level might change by a few dB. That's normal.

Please note: The AURA sensor always focuses on the closest object to adjust your levels and tone. Be aware of this when gesturing in front of the microphone.

You can see and hear AURA in action in the video below.

  • RAY - MUTE by Distance

MUTE by Distance mutes your signal automatically when you move past a set distance threshold from RAY.

To activate and set the mute distance, follow these steps:

    1. Press the MUTE button until the LED blinks.
    2. The MUTE indicator now flashes for 5 seconds, setting the current distance between you and the microphone as the threshold for the mute distance.
    3. The MUTE indicator lights up green if the signal is active and turns red if the signal is muted.

To exit this feature, press the MUTE button for 3 seconds.

The MUTE button works as usual, even when MUTE by Distance is engaged.

When MUTE is engaged, the microphone's output is reduced by -70 dB (analog mute)

  • RAY - MUTE button

Click the MUTE button on the right to mute your signal. Click the button again to unmute.

When enabled, the MUTE button lowers the microphone's output signal by -70 dB (analog mute).

  • RAY - Lock mode

The lock mode locks the buttons to avoid changing your settings unintentionally.

Lock/unlock by pressing both buttons for 3 seconds.

  • RAY - Are settings persistent?

Yes, the settings on your microphone are persistent. You can safely unplug and replug the microphone, and your settings will stay the same.

  • Always use a pop filter

Always use a pop filter for vocal recording to protect the capsule from excessive moisture.

It will ensure to maintain the longevity of your microphone and retain the high sensitivity of the microphone.

  • Maintenance

    • Before switching off the microphone or disconnecting the cables, mute the volume of connected equipment.
    • Do not apply extensive force when disconnecting a cable, always use the connector and don't pull the cable.
    • Microphones that are not in use should not remain on the stand gathering dust or being unnecessarily exposed to humidity. Unmount it from the shock mount and put it into supplied transport bag or similar storage.
    • Do not attempt to modify or fix the microphone as it would void your product warranty.
    • The casing of the microphone can be cleaned easily using a wet cloth.
